Public Speaking Tips To Become a Better Presenter
Instantly
Public speaking tips you've heard before are
mostly regurgitated, rehashed, warmed-over "book
reports".
My public speaking tips are based on my having
given (to date) 1,893 workshops, classes, training,
key note speeches, seminars - you get the idea.
I tell you that not to impress you but to impress
upon you the fact that these tips I'm going to
give you are based on solid, real-world experience.
Plus, these public speaking tips have been successfully
used by my students and members, which means you
can use these public speaking tips with confidence.
Public Speaking Tip #1: Use the "4-Mat System"
In most cases, you need to create a presentation
right away, quickly, and in some cases you have
a mere matter of minutes or short hours to do
so.
The 4-Mat System allows you to create a dynamite
presentation in no time flat.
Traditional public speaking tips say "be prepared"
and this is exactly how to be 100% prepared.
Structure your content in this order: Why > What
> How > What-If.
Start by naming your topic = "today we're here
to talk about X" then move on to why this topic
is important or on the agenda at all, then move
into relevant facts data and statistics regarding
this topic, then cover how this information can
be used or what methods are required to move forward,
and "what-if" is simply asking the group if they
have any questions at the end of your presentation.
Close with either a brief summary of what was
covered (just a few sentences) or a call to action,
or an outline of next steps or actions to be taken.
Public Speaking Tip #2: Use the "Hero Process"
This public speaking tip gives you 2 major, huge
benefits:
First, it allows you to mitigate any pre-talk
jitters you may have.
Second, it allows you to be a much better presenter
than you deserve to be - in other words, using
this public speaking tip means you'll shortcut
the process of becoming a terrific presenter from
years to days, or even hours.
Here's how this public speaking tip works:
Choose a "Hero"; your hero will be someone that,
in your mind, is a confident and competent presenter.
Your hero can be anyone, living or not, real
or fictional.
You now simply emulate that persons face, voice,
and body when you practice, and/or when you deliver
your presentation.
This simple yet powerful public speaking tip
is the fastest way to conquer stage fright and
become a superb presenter, practically overnight.
Public Speaking Tip #2: Put Your Focus On
Your Group, Not You
Anytime you make any kind of presentation, you
need to ask yourself if you're giving people what
they want, or what you want them to want.
This public speaking tip is too powerful to overlook.
Focus on the needs and wants of your group and
strive hard to serve those needs and you'll A)
conquer stage fright instantly and B) become a
much more effective presenter instantly.
