Public Speaking:
What It Really Is & How To Leverage Its Power
Public speaking is a subject that has many myths
and misconceptions associated with it.
In this public speaking training article, I'm
going to separate fact from fiction, rumor from
truth, and reality from fantasy.
First let's get one thing straight: public speaking
is not, repeat not, speech making.
To be clear, speech making falls under the category
of public speaking and not vice versa.
The important point to grasp here is that people
have a common misconception that if they do some
kind of presentation, then they are "making a
speech".
That's just not true and you'll see why in just
a moment.
Second, let's be clear that public speaking is
also not necessarily making a presentation.
Just like speech making, making presentations
falls under the broad category of public speaking
and not the other way around.
IMPORTANT: in case you're wondering why these
distinctions are important, it's because the fear
many people have about public speaking is exactly
because they don't understand these critical distinctions.
ALSO IMPORTANT: because this particular public
speaking training is geared toward business owners,
entrepreneurs, and business professionals, please

or other speeches, or if you're looking for info
solely on making business
Now on to the heart of the matter of this public
speaking training article:
Business owners, entrepreneurs, and business
professionals - you need to read the following
several times until it sinks into your DNA (yes,
it's that serious):
Public speaking is nothing more than an advertising
media.
When you fully "get" that last sentence, your
business life is going to change and change forever.
This is so very critical for you to understand,
I'm going to repeat it just in case:
Public speaking is nothing more than an advertising
media.
And, it's the best, most powerful advertising
media that exists or will ever exist - yes, even
more powerful than the Internet.
When you go out and talk about your business,
product, service, cause or issue, people get a
chance to know you, like you, believe you, and
trust you.
And in case you didn't know this, people BUY
from people they like, believe, and trust.
n added benefit of public speaking as advertising
media is the very real fact that when you speak,
people see you as the expert.
This is not to be glossed over or underestimated.
You cannot get people to like, believe, or trust
you with any other form of advertising or marketing
for the simple fact that when you do public speaking
as advertising, you are right there in front of
people where they will (and I do mean will) form
an opinion about you right there on the spot.
They will decide right then and there if they
like you, believe you, and trust you. Next, you
should read my articles on how
to create persuasive presentations.
