Training Tips
Although presentation training is better left
to live workshops and classes, there's much you
can learn just by reading my public speaking training
articles.
First, know that it's just not enough for you
to have ample knowledge about your subject matter
and that all your data and facts are ready.
Sure, it is true that the core of a good presentation
is your quality content. However, in delivering
live presentations to human beings, how you say
what you say matters even more than merely what
you are saying.
A popular concept in presentation training is
the saying: "the medium is the message." You have
to deliver your message in such a way that it
entertains, inspires, and enlightens the audience
while imparting your ideas.
A well-delivered presentation has to appeal to
the interest and intellect of the audience.
Truly effective presentation training will help
you to put the needs of your audience as your
primary consideration. At the same time, your
self-confidence in front of the public should
be developed in order for you to project credibility
and authority.
Your focus in presentation training should be
primarily on meeting that outcome.
Make sure to properly prepare for your talk by
always keeping in mind the needs of your listeners.
One thing that would help you out during your
big day is easy-to-read note cards that consists
of the points you are going to discuss during
the presentation.
Highlight the main points of your speech and
the things that you want to emphasize. In most
presentation trainings, you will be taught how
to prepare your presentation aids in the way that
works best for you.
Good presentation training does not only teach
you about speaking itself but using nonverbal
cues as well. You need to learn how to use the
"stage" in a confident manner, and how to use
your facial expressions, posture and gestures
to emphasize your message.
Making the time to attend presentation training
will pay off in great dividends for you.
However, I urge caution in rushing to join the
well-known clubs and associations that cater to
speakers, because often their focus is on "making
you a great speaker" by their definition, which
may not help you to reach the outcomes you're
actually hoping to reach with your speaking!
