5 Powerfully Persuasive Speech Topics

What makes for a persuasive speech topic?

In this article I'm NOT referring to persuasive speech delivery techniques such as using social proof, hypnotic language patterns, or special staging techniques (that's a different article!).

This article is focused on 5 fundamental elements that comprise a persuasive speech topic - i.e., a speech topic that is inherently, intrinsically persuasive in nature.

In your particular speech these elements can be combined, modified and adapted to meet your needs.

These elements are not meant to be hard and fast strict rules to limit you, the opposite is true: these are fundamentals to stimulate your creativity and a foundation to build upon.

Persuasive Speech Topic #1: Easy, How-To Solutions:

People want fast and easy solutions to their problems. Look no further than television infomercials that promise you'll lose weight by taking a pill or applying a cream for proof of this fact.

Because people want an easy, step-by-step "already done for them" solution, framing your speech topic in this manner is extremely persuasive.

Persuasive Speech Topic #2: Cure, Not Prevention:

It's far easier to persuade people when they already need a cure for what pains them than prevention for potential pain in the future.

For example, who do you suppose is more motivated to get help: someone with severe back pain, or someone with no back pain? Pain doesn't have to be physical; it can be financial pain or emotional pain.

Prevention is simply not a persuasive speech topic, but the cure to pain assuredly is!

Persuasive Speech Topic #3: Making Money:

It's almost a no-brainer; almost everyone wants to make more money. Systems and methods and strategies to increase business revenues or personal income are extremely persuasive topics indeed.

Persuasive Speech Topic #4: Solve a Pervasive Problem:

Examples of solving a pervasive problem can be anything from getting a dog to stop barking constantly, to dealing with weeds in a garden, to ridding a home of pests.

Persistent, pervasive problems cry out for a solution, and that makes for a very persuasive speech topic that people will line up to hear about. Persuasive

Speech Topic #5: Stop Bleeding Money:

If you can prove that someone is bleeding money and that you can help them stop the bleeding, you've got one very powerfully persuasive speech topic.

For example, if you can demonstrate that homeowners are needlessly bleeding money by inefficiently heating and cooling their homes, or that business owners are losing big bucks due to easily preventable employee theft, you've got an extremely potent speech topic.

Summary:

Those 5 Persuasive Speech Topics should really get your creativity flowing and stimulate plenty of ideas for you.

Take your topic, your business, your product, your service and run that through the 5 Persuasive Speech Topics and use the ones that apply.
