Persuasion Speech Topics
Persuasion speech topics are not just some blatant
attempt to manipulate people in some way, so first
rid yourself of any ideas that persuasion and
speaking are not compatible.
In fact, persuasion speech topics are all around
you and happening all the time whether you realize
it or not.
You don't have to look very far at all to find
that you actually are being persuaded all the
time, without even knowing it.
The most basic persuasion speech topics have
to do with strong desire. You were once a kid,
and if you have kids now, you know that kids can
be extremely adamant about achieving the object
of their desire.
Think about that for a moment and you'll realize
that in a way, we all have strong desire for something
and that this is the true heart of persuasion
When you were a kid, your persuasion speech topics
were about a toy you wanted, or some tasty treat
you badly craved, or to be allowed to do something
special like stay up late to watch TV, or have
a friend stay for a sleep-over.
As adults, our persuasion speech topics might
be to stop some injustice, pass some law, or get
someone elected.
Of course there are dozens of other "adult" example
such as getting a raise, convincing someone to
do business with you or buy from you.
At the heart of all persuasion speech topics,
in reality then, is desire.
Deep desire.
Knowing this, you have 2 choices for persuasion
speech topics:
1. Choose a speech topic on something you are
extremely passionate about And, speak from the
heart.
The most persuasive speech topic in the world
will fall flat if you deliver it with a flat,
emotionless tone.
Speak with passion and let your passion be known
by all.
2. Choose a speech topic on something your audience
is extremely passionate about.
If you are passionate about something but your
audience is not, your heartfelt passionate delivery
may win over your audience, but think about it
- the easiest persuasion speech topic is the one
that your listeners are already extremely passionate
about.
If you can choose a topic that you are extremely
passionate about, and your group is also extremely
passionate about, this will be the most effective
persuasion speech topic you could possibly choose.
